The Village Square

If you venture into some of the smaller towns and villages in Sicily you will always find there is a village square where old men gather to play cards and chat.  If ever a 'stranger' comes into the village you can be sure they have noticed, if there is any gossip then they will know and the Sicilian 'coppola' or cap is a must!
This my latest page for the Sketchbook Project, only three more double pages left to do!

I was just thinking of my trip to Sicily this holiday season and missing it, and all the wonderful towns.

Thanks for sharing this terrific reminder.

Hello Cathy,
Wonderful painting.
Wouldn't it be fun to have a sit and a chat with those blokes? (I know...I'm easily pleased...lol). I bet they have some stories to tell.
Watch out Cathy - you'll hear a knock on the door Christmas day and there's Vicky with her bags...'I was just passing....'

That is a lovely intimate picture; it is obvious you love the country and its people. I am left wondering one thing though. Where do the women sit around to gossip?

Stew - You'd have to learn the local dialect first!

Bella - In the small villages you'd most likely find them at home, probably in the kitchen!

Did you show them your drawing? Did they keep glancing your way?
